Vancouver’s Kids Learning Code team is hitting the road! We have joined forces with Traction on Demand’s Bandit Tour to teach workshops in 3 BC towns. Working with local schools, Vancouver’s Youth Chapter Lead, Caitlin Tuba, and a Traction employee will teach to grades 5 and 6 over 3 days. On September 9th, they will be in Chilliwack teaching 2 workshops. Then they will move onto Princeton on the 10th to teach 2 more workshops. Then on the final day, they will travel to Merritt to teach the final 2 workshops. With a focus on inspiring kids to explore and play with technology, they will leave in their wake materials for teachers and community leaders to continue the learning once the tour is over.
Traction on Demand has been very supportive of Girls Learning Code and Kids Learning Code. They hosted Vancouver’s first week-long Webmakers camp in March 2015, which was the first camp hosted outside of Toronto headquarters. The girls at camp created websites for social causes and issues surrounding girls’ education, clean air, abandoned animals and nature conservation. The team at Traction were so blown away by their enthusiasm that Traction For Good whole-heartedly decided to contribute financially to each of their causes – Because I am a Girl, WWF, Nature Conservancy (Plant a Billion Trees), SPCA and Clean Air Partnership.
